Salmon supply surges in Japan

Tuesday, November 3rd, 2009

Salmon supplies are at the highest level since 2007 in Japan, with purchases of Bristol Bay sockeye up 30%. Also the strong run of fall chum in Hokkaido has contributed to salmon supplies, with over 600,000 tons now projected. Even with this surge, demand continues to be strong, and Japanese buyers expect to see a trend toward higher global salmon prices over the next year.
