U.S lowers anti-dumping duties on Vietnam Shrimp

The U.S. Department of Commerce (DOC) has lowered the anti-dumping duties on frozen warm water shrimp imported from Vietnam in the 12 months to January 31, 2007 to almost zero.

Truong Dinh Hoe, secretary general of the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP), told the Dailythat 23 shrimp processors and exporters now pay a 0.01% duty in the Period of Review 2 between February 1, 2006 and January 31, 2007.

“For Vietnamese shrimp exporters, this is a right decision made by the U.S. authorities. If it gets approval from all sides after the consultation period, the DOC will instruct the U.S. Customs and Border Protection to apply the new duty on entries of subject merchandise during the period of review,” he said.
